Donfeld was the costume designer who created the Wonder Woman costume for Lynda Carter for the 1970s Wonder Woman television series. He won an Emmy Award in 1978 for outstanding costume design on the episode "Anschluss '77".
Donfeld's career as an artist began with Capitol Records where he worked as an art director beginning in 1953. In the 1960s he began working in Hollywood as a costume designer. Donfeld received four Academy Award nominations for his work on Days of Wine and Roses (1962), They Shoot Horses, Don't They? (1969), Tom Sawyer (1973) and Prizzi's Honor (1985).
Donfeld died in 2007 at the age of 72.
